Paper-plastic packaging is a new type of environmentally friendly material for food packaging bags
2014-07-25
Paper materials can give people an environmentally friendly feeling, so some manufacturers blindly pursue a high-end visual effect for food packaging bags. The main role of paper in paper-plastic composite materials is to provide a visual paper texture and improve the stiffness of the packaging material. It does not actually contribute to the barrier properties and peel/heat seal strength of the packaging material; sometimes it is even detrimental.
The separate recycling of composite flexible packaging remains a challenge. Unlike single-material plastics, it cannot be easily recycled and reused. The environmental pollution caused by discarded composite flexible packaging of food packaging bags has attracted widespread social concern. Paper, as a single material, can be recycled, but once it is combined with plastic, it becomes difficult-to-recycle composite flexible packaging waste.
The mindless pursuit of visual effects and excessive packaging on food packaging bags leads to resource waste or misleads consumers, both of which are undesirable.
Currently, the kraft paper used in paper-plastic melon seed bags generally weighs 50-60 grams, while the white paper used in salt bags generally weighs 27 grams. Its role in packaging does not enhance the protection of goods, which violates the principle of carbon reduction through reduced material use and is not conducive to waste recycling, thus being called "false environmental protection".
