Degradable biomaterials have become a highlight in the packaging field

2014-07-25

The packaging industry has gradually become an important part of China's national economic development. However, at present, there are many disharmonious phenomena in China's packaging industry. This disharmony is related to the utilitarianism of enterprises, the failure of the state's relevant technical standards to be updated in a timely manner, and the low cost of illegal activities by enterprises.

Green packaging is a major trend in the development of the global packaging industry, while food safety is a key area of rectification in China now and in the coming years. Both have a direct impact on the development of plastic packaging materials.

In terms of raw material sources, degradable biomaterials have become a highlight in the packaging field. Although they cannot completely replace petroleum-based plastics, their application rate is increasing year by year with the encouragement of national policies and the promotion of enterprises. As packaging materials, especially food packaging materials, safety is the most basic principle that should be followed. How to ensure product performance while avoiding contamination of food by plasticizers, metallic elements, etc., is a problem that enterprises must solve in order to survive and develop. Furthermore, as a member of society, enterprises must assume corresponding social responsibilities, focusing on the treatment of packaging waste and the recycling and reuse of resources to achieve sustainable development requirements.

Enterprises should first strengthen self-discipline and use raw materials that meet the requirements of the product to produce corresponding packaging products. Food is something that goes into the mouth; as the last barrier to ensuring food safety, packaging cannot be careless. At the same time, enterprises should carry out technological innovation and technological transformation and upgrading, truly moving towards green and environmentally friendly directions, rather than just hyping up the concept of green packaging.
